Restoring Hope: NB Sika Foundation and Dr. Likee Support Mothers and Vulnerable Patients at KATH

Compassion in Action at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital

At NB Sika Foundation – LBG, we believe that wellness extends beyond mental health awareness. It also means standing beside individuals and families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

In a significant act of compassion and social responsibility, NB Sika Foundation partnered with renowned Ghanaian actor and philanthropist Dr. Likee (Ras Nene) and his team to support vulnerable patients at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.

Following the successful O2 Indigo Live Drama Show in London, Dr. Likee and his team returned to Ghana with a commitment to give back to society. Together with NB Sika Foundation, a donation was made to settle outstanding medical bills for patients who were unable to pay for their treatment and discharge costs.

The intervention resulted in the payment of GH¢76,026 in medical bills, bringing relief to several vulnerable patients and families. The donation also included essential items such as diapers, infant formula, detergents, and other supplies to support mothers and newborn babies.

Among the beneficiaries were mothers who had successfully delivered their babies but remained at the hospital because of financial challenges. Some families had endured extended stays while trying to find ways to settle their bills.

The Foundation was represented at the event by:

Mr. Hubert Kyei-Mensah, Board Chair

Mr. Bernard Oduro-Amankwaah, Board Member

Mr. Bernard Addae, Board Member

Ms. Veronica Owusu, Executive Secretary

Ms. Ruth Nimoh, Public Relations Officer

Speaking after the donation, representatives of the Foundation reiterated NB Sika Foundation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable people, promoting wellness, and reducing the burden faced by individuals and families experiencing difficult circumstances.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Likee and his team for their generosity and willingness to use their platform to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Their actions demonstrate the powerful role that public figures can play in driving positive social change.

We also express our profound gratitude to the management of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, particularly the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. (Med.) Paa Kwesi Baidoo, and the hospital administration for their collaboration and dedication to patient care. KATH continues to provide treatment to patients regardless of their financial circumstances while working with benevolent individuals and organisations to support those in need.

This donation aligns with the mission of NB Sika Foundation to promote wellness, dignity, and hope. While our work includes mental health advocacy, we recognise that health challenges, financial hardship, and social vulnerability are often interconnected. Supporting people in times of crisis is therefore an essential part of our commitment to community wellbeing.

Every bill settled represents more than a financial transaction. It represents a mother returning home with her child, a family finding relief from anxiety, and individuals regaining hope for the future.

As we continue our journey, NB Sika Foundation remains committed to building partnerships that transform lives, strengthen communities, and ensure that no one feels forgotten in their moment of need.
